The British Fashion Awards 2014

Okay, Okay so I know it’s late but I’m here to write a little summin’ summin’ about this years BFA’s. I could probably write pages upon pages gushing over the beautifully put together outfits and the gorgeously sophisticated shoes adorning our ever appreciated celebs. But I won’t. Hehe. No loves. I’m not going to gush (maybe just a little) but let’s talk details and some of the predominant themes that rocked the carpet that night.

Remember my article about “SKIN”? Well once again Tom Ford catered to the barely-there trend styling Miss Ora herself in a black scrappy number adorned with crystals. The dress, though less revealing, was not unlike the one Miley wore at the amFAR Gala earlier this year. Rita kept it simple matching the dress with elegant silver jewellery and beautifully engineered metallic platforms. Well done for following in miss Riri’s footsteps and keeping it classy Mis Ora!

The next trend to grace the catwalk that I loved and definitely thought worth mentioning was Alexa Chung’s Chinese food box bag. Whoa. What a mouthful right?! Haha. Charlotte Omlypia and Chanel have been doing book clutches to milk carton bags so it seems only natural that a Chinese food box should be the next thing. Personally I don’t think I’d have the courage to pull this off, but Alexa does it expertly, pairing it with a long sleeved grey Emilia Wickstead dress. Good thing too, there’s no way she’d fit a cardigan in that bag.

The next predominant look at the BFA’s that I have to mention is the masculine suit look rocked by none other than Riri herself and former Harry Potter star turned style icon Emma Watson. Oversized seemed to be the trend that night. Emma Watson pairing her oversized suit jacket with an elegant wide-legged cream jumpsuit and a box-book clutch. Where one opted for elegance the other took the trend in a different direction. Robin Fenty chose instead to opt for, as always, Sexy sexy sexy. Wearing only her Stella McCartney Jacket with sheer black tights, barely-there heels and a diamond necklace. Simple and hot as can be, looking like a golden sphinx.

Colour wise we had shades of pastel pink; rocked by Anna Kendrick and Laura Bailey (who tool a more conservative approach to it) in elegant and feminine shapes, and, believe it or not, Orange! worn by Sam Rollinson and Karolina Kurkova in a perfect demonstration of structure, embellishment and bold colour.

Another one of my favourites and, I promise, this will be the last!…was Poppy Delevigne. She definitely shone, bright as a beacon, with her gorgeous smile paired with a black beaded Topshop dress and Nicholas Kirkwood heels. The dress really complemented her golden skin and hair and matched the shoes perfectly in tones of gold and black. Beautiful right?

So loves, those are some of my favourite looks, trends and pieces that graced the red carpet this year’s BFA’s head over to VOGUE though if you want to take a look at some of the other beautiful clothes and people on display that night.

Kisses!
